Itinerary for the Private Day Trip to Dendera & Abydos

We will pick you up early from your hotel at 5:00 AM (depending on your hotel’s location). The drive to Dendera is approximately 250 km.

The Dendera Temple was dedicated to the goddess Hathor, the deity of maternal love and affection. This magnificent temple is over 2,000 years old. Inside, you will explore the Sacred Lake, the Sanatorium, the Mamisi (birth house), and the only surviving depiction of Queen Cleopatra. Your guide will also show you stunning astronomical ceiling paintings and mysterious reliefs in the temple crypts.

After leaving the Dendera Temple, we will drive about one hour (100 km) to Abydos, where we will have lunch before starting our cultural tour of this historic city.

Abydos was a center for the worship of Osiris and one of the most important religious cities of ancient times. Inside the Abydos Temple, you will learn about the eternal struggle between good and evil, depicted through the myth of Horus and Seth.

Marvel at the exceptionally well-preserved reliefs and colors, along with the hieroglyphic symbols carved with remarkable precision into the stone.

Among the temple’s highlights are the Abydos King List and a scene showing Pharaoh Ramses II hunting wild animals with his crown prince.

After an enriching day, we will return to Hurghada.
